How Watergenius’ 30 technicians drive 33% fewer kilometers with Movetex
Watergenius is an innovative leader in water treatment, specializing in water softeners for both residential and professional customers. With 30 field technicians, the company completes over 40,000 assignments each year, mainly periodic maintenance, interventions, and system startups.
To manage this high volume efficiently, Watergenius previously relied on a largely manual planning process. Eight planners manually compared availabilities, skills, regions, and routes, while contacting customers by phone to schedule appointments, a time-consuming and hard-to-scale approach.

From manual scheduling to data-driven decisions
“Our planners used to spend most of their time calling and juggling schedules,” says Terry De Reydt, COO of Watergenius. “It was extremely difficult to account for availability, skill levels, distances, and efficiency all at once. There was little overview, and the team felt a lot of pressure.”
Watergenius had previously tried another planning solution that failed to deliver in usability, results, and implementation.
“We weren’t looking for more complexity,” Terry continues, “but a system that helps our planners make the right decisions. Movetex does exactly that.”

Smarter planning, more efficient routes
Odoo now automatically sends assignments to Movetex, which starts with a bulk planning process using its optimization algorithm. Efficient routes and schedules are proposed based on location, technician availability, working hours, and skill levels. Customers are then invited to confirm appointments digitally via email or SMS.
Planners then manually fill in remaining assignments, supported by two types of “best suggestions”:
For each assignment, the system recommends the most efficient technician, date, and time slot.
For open slots in a route, it shows which unplanned assignments fit best, including customer details for quick confirmation.
“The goal is to fill our schedule as efficiently as possible,” explains Terry. “We start with the nearest days at full capacity, then slightly lower occupancy for days further out, around 90%, then 80%. This way, planners know where to focus first and can build optimal routes.”
All planning data flows back to Odoo, connecting seamlessly to the mobile app, follow-ups, and invoicing.

Measurable impact in the field
The biggest gains are on the road. Before Movetex, technicians drove an average of 150 kilometers per day. Today, that’s down to 100 kilometers, a 33% reduction. Travel time has dropped significantly, allowing more assignments per day.
Average daily assignments per technician increased from 6.5 to 7, with capacity for up to 8 when needed. “We deliberately maintain this limit to ensure quality,” Terry says. “Our technicians need enough time for each customer, and Movetex gives us control to balance efficiency with service quality.”

Movetex has also transformed back-office operations. Visibility has improved, and absences in the planning team are now easily managed.
“The biggest difference is the calm that has returned to the team,” concludes Terry. “We are better organized, can grow the number of technicians more easily, and know our planning can handle it. That gives us confidence for the future.”
